DOG FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS IN THE UK!

The warmer weather is coming and all across the UK more and more of you will be visiting pubs and restaurants to spend time with friends and/or family. The last thing you want is to have to leave your beloved dog at home. Sometimes it can be a little confusing whether or not a local pub or restaurant is dog-friendly.

In this blog we have tried the best we can to find eateries that are somewhat local to you that your pooch can tag a long and have just as much fun as you.



South West of England

Cornwall: Restronguet Creek - Mylor Bridge, Falmouth, Cornwall, TR11 5ST

You can eat by a log fire, creek side, or on the water. Parts of the Inn date back to the 13th Century, you'll forget you're in the 21st Century. They are definitely dog friendly and believe that your dog should get the odd snack too!

Devon: The Boathouse Bar and Grill - Beach Way, Dawlish Warren, Devon, EX7 0NF

Situated by the lovely sandy beach and dunes at Dawlis Warren, you'll be dining with a spectacular view. They are very dog friendly and your dog is even allowed inside!

Somerset: The Old Ship Aground - Quay St, Minehead, TA24 5UL

It is a historic listed edwardian pub located on the harbour in Minehead, this restaurant has been running for 100 years. The staff here are very welcoming to dogs and your pooch will most likely be offered a much needed drinking bowl.

Dorset: The Stocks Inn - Furzehill, Wimborne Minster, Dorset, BH21 4HT

They are a family-run pub and have been running for 15 years. The staff are very welcoming and your dog can join you both inside and outside of this restaurant in a designated area.

South of England

Hampshire: The Rockstone - 63 Onslow Rd, Southampton, SO14 0JL

Found in the heart of Bevois Vellay. They aim to accommodate everyone by including a wide range of options, including something sweet for your furry friends.

Isle of Wight: The Bargeman's Rest - Little London Quay, Newport, PO30 5BS

They are a freehouse pub that has been a feature of Little London on Newport Quay.  The restaurant has a lot of outdoor space for dogs and according to some regular customers, your dog is allowed indoors.

Kent: The Dirty Habit - Upper St, Hollingbourne, Maidstone, ME17 1UW

An 11th Century monk's ale and cider house. Your dog can sit inside and outside on the patio area. However, their are limited seats with dogs, therefore, it is recommended to ring and book a table.

Surrey: The Britannia - 9 Millmead, Surrey, Guildford, GU2 4BE

They are an award-winning riverside pub. The Britannia are very dog friendly and go as for as catering to your dog with dog beds, towels and treats!

Sussex: The Gardeners Arms - Selsfield Rd, Ardingly, Haywards Heath, RH17 6TJ

A cosy pub restaurant on the edge of rolling Sussex countryside. Dogs and muddy boots are more than welcomed in this restaurant making them feel at home.

Hertfordshire: The Millstream - 88 Port Vale, Hertford, SG14 3AF

They are a warm, friendly local pub. They are very welcoming to any dog that steps into their pub and their beer garden is the perfect location to sit down and relax with your dog. 

Buckinghamshire: The Beech House - 17 Penn Rd, Beaconsfield, HP9 2PN

A They are a homely pub that serves Mediterranean and British dishes. The staff are very friendly and allow dogs in one half of the venue. This restaurant is a great place to stop after a long walk with your dog.

East of England

Cambridgeshire: The Dog & Duck - 63 High St, Linton, Cambridge, CB21 4HS

A classic village pub with a homely, modern interior. They have a lovely outdoor space and dogs are more than welcome. Not only that, your dog is also allowed indoors.

Essex: The Owl - Lippitts Hill, Waltham Abbey, Loughton, IG10 4AL

They are a superb woodland tavern which has been a McMullen pub since 1898. They're not only dog friendly, The Owl go as far as to have their very own dog menu for your much adored pooch!

Lincolnshire: The Nottingham House - 5-7 Sea View St, Cleethorpes, DN35 8EU

Family run pud which is only a 4 minute walk away from Cleethorpes Pier Gardens and Ross Castle. They're very dog friendly and will offer your pooch some water and treats!

Norfolk: Golden Fleece Wells - 18 The Quay, Wells-next-the-Sea, NR23 1AH

Family and dog friendly pub right next to the quay in a beautiful coastal town. Your pup is allowed indoors and will be welcomed by the staff.

Suffolk: Dolphin Inn - Peace Place, Thorpeness, Aldeburgh, Leiston, IP16 4FE

A warm and welcoming pub which is only a 4 minute walk from the beach. Your dog is allowed indoors and outdoors with rooms available to book.

Bedfordshire: The French Horn - 7 Church End, Steppingley, Bedford, MK45 5AU

They are a countryside inn and restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. They have a lovely terrace at the back which is great to go on when the weather is nice. The staff are very accomodating to dogs and they are welcome in the bar are and outside.

Heart of England

Cheshire: The Fishpool Inn - Fishpool Rd, Northwich, CW8 2HP

Rustic restaurant positioned on the edge of the enchanting Delamere forest. Your dog will be allowed in the bar area and they will even get their very own menu to have dinner with you!

Derbyshire: The Fishpond - 204 S Parade, Matlock Bath, Matlock, DE4 3NR

They are a dynamic space for music and events offering delicious home cooked food. Your dog will most certainly be welcomed by the staff throughout the pub with treats and toys.

Gloucester: The Golden Heart Inn - Birdlip, Gloucester, GL4 8LA

A cosy stone-built pub situated in the heart of the Cotswold's. They are very dog friendly and your woofer will be met with their very own dog menu.

Hereford: De Koffie Pot - Bridge St, Hereford, HR4 9DG

Rustic riverside café with hearty and healthy food. Your dog will be welcomed with a much needed water bowl, not only that there are nice outdoor spaces for your pooch to enjoy.

Leicester: The White Horse - White Horse Ln, Birstall, Leicester, LE4 4EF

Modern, rustic-style pub situated in a beautifully renovated 18th Century former alehouse. The staff are very welcoming to dogs and will even offer your pooch some delicious treats.

Northampton: The Sun Inn - 9 High St, Hardingstone, Northampton, NN4 7BT

They are a traditional pub with a rustic cabinet-style bar and open fire places at the heart of Hardingstone village. Your pooch is even welcomed inside the pub and welcomed by the lovely staff.

Nottingham: Bread & Bitter -  153-155, Woodthorpe Dr, Mapperley, Nottingham, NG3 5JL

A former bakery and nestled away in Mapperley Top. They are a classic pub offering a wide selection of ales and heart, homestyle eats. Your pooch is welcome in the indoor eating area and outdoors.

Oxford: Trout Inn Oxford - 195 Godstow Rd, Wolvercote, Oxford, OX2 8PN

An upscale, country gastropub with Thames views from their beer garden. Although the outdoors is the only dog friendly area, it isn't a negative point because of the beautiful views you're met with.

Shropshire: The Loopy Shrew - 15/17 Bellstone, Shrewsbury, SY1 1HU

They are a sophisticated bar and restaurant which is family run and located in a prime, central spot of the town. Your dog is welcomed both indoors and outdoors of The Loopy Shrew.

Stafford: Dog & Doublet Inn - Sandon Rd, Sandon, Stafford, ST18 0DJ

They offer a classic, attentive hospitality great for both friends and family to gather. After a long tiring walk with your dog amongst the skyward summits of the peak districts, your pooch will be welcomed by staff and met with a much needed water bowl.

Wiltshire: The Three Magpies - Bath Rd, Seend, Melksham, SN12 6RN

Homely, wood-panelled pub with warm log fires, garden and real ale. Your woofer will be warmly welcomed by the staff with some delicious treats.

Worcester: The Anchor Pub & Kitchen - 54 Diglis Rd, Worcester, WR5 3BW

They are a stylish pub featuring all-day English eats and more. Your dog will be welcomed both indoors and outdoors in their beer garden.

North of England

County Durham: Bill's Durham Restaurant - 39 Saddler St, Durham, DH1 3NU

A contemporary European chain dishing up separate breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch and dinner menus. They are a dog friendly restaurant which some locals are regulars there with their dogs.

Cumbria & the Lakes: The Flying Pig Pub - Rayrigg Rd, Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere, LA23 3BZ

Traditional family friendly cozy pub space offering fantastic seasonal, hearty dishes. They are positioned close to several popular walking routes which makes this restaurant the perfect place to fuel you and your pooch up before the hike.

Lancashire: Owd Nells Canalside Tavern - St Michael's Rd, Bilsborrow, Preston, PR3 0RS

A canal-side thatched hamlet. There are certain areas of the tavern that are dog friendly inside, fortunately, your pooch is allowed anywhere outside.

Northumberland: The Joiners Arms -  B1340, High Newton-by-the-Sea, Alnwick, NE66 3EA

They are a 5* star village pub & inn that is located within the very heart of Newton-by-the-Sea. Designed and molded from the ground up with passion, love, and a homely feel. Your pooch even has a choice between refreshing water or a selection of dog friendly beers!

Yorkshire: The Whippet Inn - 15 North St, York, YO1 6JD

They are a trendy dining room with brick walls, leather seating and a meaty menu focused on Yorkshire beef. Your dog will be more than welcomed to accompany you at the bar area or at the outdoor seating area.

Wales

Mid Wales: The Nags Head Inn - Garthmyl, Montgomery, SY15 6RS

Nestled in between the canal routes to Welshpool and Newtown. Met with a lovely atmosphere, your pooch is more than welcomed at The Nags Head Inn.

North Wales & Snowdonia: Hangin' Pizzeria - 1 Station Rd, Betws-y-Coed, LL24 0AE

They are a chill pizza parlor with patio seating and imaginative pies. Your dog can sit both indoors and outdoors with you and the restaurant even sell some delicious sausages for your pooch!

South Wales: Old Cottage Lisvane - Cherry Orchard Rd, Lisvane, Cardiff, CF14 0UE

A whitewashed, country-style pub with a smart, modern interior, Mediterranean menu and a huge garden. Your pooch will feel very welcomed by staff offering water, treats without you having to ask.

Scotland

Edinburgh & the Borders: Red Squirrel - 21 Lothian Rd, Edinburgh, EH1 2DJ

Chic, modern bistro pub with gourmet burger menu, locally-sourced dishes and craft beers on draught. According to many reviews it is very hard to find a dog friendly eatery in Edinburgh. Red Squirrel are more than happy to accommodate your pooch with even offering some such needed water.

Northern Highlands: The Ship Inn - The Toft, Elie, Leven, KY9 1DT

They are situated overlooking the beach and are the perfect base to explore the wonderful coastline. Not only can you look at the beautiful views, but, you will be able to enjoy them with your beloved dog.

Perthshire & Southern Highlands: The Glover Arms - Crieff Rd, Huntingtower Park, Perth, PH1 3JJ

They are a country pub with seasonal dishes that can be enjoyed both indoors by the crackling log fires, or, outdoors in their beautiful gardens. They are very proud of their dog section and welcome you to enjoy the atmosphere with your furry bestfriend.

South West Scotland: The Drovers Inn - North Loch Lomond, Inverarnan, G83 7DX

They are the perfect stop providing a true and lasting memory of rural Scotland. They even have live bands playing every weekend! Not only that, they are a dog friendly pub and your dog will be made to feel more than welcomed at The Drovers Inn.
That is all the eateries wrapped up! We hope that at least 1 of these places are nearby, if not, if you are passing close to one of these restaurants, you can be confident that you and your pooch are more than welcome to pop in these eateries.
